SpencerMaurice has developed “Breakthrough”, a highly customisable methodology which is underpinned by Human Centred Design (HCD) philosophies and systems analysis principles.
Our methodology offers a flexible low-risk path for gathering insights from stakeholders, as well as co-designing, planning, and prioritising the implementation of initiatives.
All of our workshops are designed using robust facilitation and design-led techniques. Our facilitators draw upon a range of proven tools and templates to guide and support each step of the design and facilitation process.
This ensures that the time spent is valuable, insightful, and safe. Our highly experienced facilitators are capable of tailoring and adapting to meet the needs of the moment, asking the right questions at the right time, engaging the power of the group’s wisdom, and aligning diverse perspectives towards coherent and compelling answers to big questions. Finally, they know how to grow trust, the most valuable group asset.
Co-design exercises are typically designed to include key stages of Immersion, Inspiration, Ideation, and plans for Implementation. This can potentially take place over one workshop or multiple workshops.
Human Centre Design and Codesign Approach
Our team combines contemporary workshop facilitation and online collaboration tools to deliver purposeful and engaging workshops and focus groups. As part of our Breakthrough methodology, we heavily focus on the design process – a successful workshop will be one in which participants have undergone some kind of change to answer a specific question.
More specifically, our Breakthrough workshops encourage participants to:
- Maximise the use of existing skills and knowledge of system to enhance the output.
- Feel heard, strengthen relationships and have impact.
- See that tangible steps forward that have been taken.
They are designed ensuring the following elements exist:
- Designing with the users in mind: Bringing the best of contemporary human centred design to build solutions that place “user empathy” at its core.
- A confident and engaging facilitation style: That will keep stakeholders and users focused and working towards aligned outcomes.
- Industry and Best Practice Insight: A deep understanding and appreciation of the industry and best practice maturity expectations within existing legislative, budgeting and resourcing parameters.
- Designing for Government: Sharpening and designing operating and service delivery models that support and enhance existing workforce considerations and requirements.
Bringing people together in different formats is key to a successful design process and we will discuss and agree these possible formats with you ranging from plenaries and town halls to tradeshows and ideation sessions to online collaboration forums to more focused small team activities. Each format will suit different objectives.
To enable maximum use of time and effectiveness of activities, we may also make use of online surveys or data collection tools as prework for participants.
