The Circumstances
The Public Open Space Strategy for NSW encompasses parks, natural areas and linkages, waterways and foreshores, informal parklands, sports grounds and courts, play spaces, historical sites, and recreation trails for walking and cycling.
SpencerMaurice was engaged to prepare a governance plan, reporting framework and periodic scorecard to underpin the delivery for the NSW State of Public Open Space Strategy.
The project requirements focused on defining of the governance framework and reporting structure to govern the delivery of key regional and metro NSW public and open space commitments via NSW Department of Planning, Department of Education, NSW Health and Transport for NSW.
Our Approach
- Extensive program of internal stakeholder consultations
- Use of co-design workshops to develop and prioritise business improvement opportunities
- Operational plans were produced through co-design workshops, and aligned to the over-arching agency level strategic plan
Outcomes Delivered
- Identification of key measures and indicators for each of the drivers, themes, topics
- Development of measurement and data collection methodologies for each indicator.
- Design and development of a โfit for purposeโ governance framework and forums suitable for deployment across multiple NSW agencies.
- Identification of the accountabilities and key stakeholders for components of report content.
- Development and finalisation of the Strategic Reporting framework for the Public Open Space Strategy, including content, content sources, and accountabilities.
